Yes, I bring you yet another update from the Samsung Vs Apple lawsuits. This time it is the news that the two companies have agreed to one final talk, to try and arrange a settlement before the case gets handed to the jury for decision. Now, this isn’t the first time the two have met to try and settle the case. The two met before the case even went to the courts, but were unable to reach a settlement.
The reason for this final attempt at a settlement is that U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh, has requested the two talk due to the large amount that is at stake here. Samsung are trying to get $399 million from Apple, whereas Apple are trying for a staggering $2.5 billion from Samsung.
Apple’s Tim Cook and Samsung’s Kwon Oh Hyun were set to have a telephone discussion at some point today and
then the companies lawyers will report to Koh. It seems unlikely that the two will reach a settlement what with the case going on for over a year now. If they could however, I’m sure it would work out a lot better for the industry as a whole.
