On Friday a U.S. district judge granted Apple a preliminary injunction against one of the devices handed out at the Google I/O conference, Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus phone. The injunction alleged that the device infringed on several of its patents, and will prevent it from being sold in stores in the U.S. Last week an injunction was also granted preventing sale of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Samsung has now filed an appeal seeking a stay of the injunction for the duration of the appeal, saying “The Court’s finding that Apple will suffer irreparable harm was based on legally insufficient evidence that Samsung and Apple are competitors,” and that “The Court’s order is inconsistent with the Federal Circuit’s directive that market share losses must be substantial.”
Android fans are not known for their love of Apple, and these injunctions aren’t helping Apple’s cause.  #BoycottApple is trending on Google+, asking for Apple to “Innovate not Litigate” and people not to buy Apple products. Unfortunately I think most of the people joining the cause aren’t reformed Apple Fanboys, but people like myself who wouldn’t buy an Apple product anyway. Regardless, #BoycottApple posts are flowing quickly and can be a fun read.
