Despite what what you may think from the title this little browser is just the ticket if you have an older mobile that does not give you much ram. The browser in question has been developed by XDA Forum Member aminaked because in his own words,
“I was fed up with the privacy violations, bloat,
instability, and general stupid functionality of Android browsers. I decided to make my own.”
RATING:(40) Average 4.6 UPDATED:October 26, 2012 CURRENT VERSION:1.0 REQUIRES ANDROID:2.1 and up SIZE:102k PRICE:Free Google Play Store Link |
The browser as its name suggests, is pretty minimal, but contains all the core functionality that you’ll need to navigate your way around the net. The primary focus of the developer has been speed, efficiency, privacy, and keeping the application as streamlined as possible. Weighing in at only 102K, I’d say he’s done a pretty dam good job. There are no extravagant or lavish functions or bloat of any kind, and just for good measure you aren’t even subjected to those infuriating ads.
Features of the browser include:
- Crash restore
- Undo the closing of a tab
- One finger zoom
- Infinite tabs
- No Ads!
Now be warned: As I said Naked Browser is just that, the clue is in the first part of the name Naked! get it, NO bells and whistles.
Keeping things this small and fast has a price—eye candy. Aminaked openly admits that, “I prefer it to look crappy but run great. Later it can look and run great.”
The general feedback does indeed seem to be that this browser is very fast and efficient. However if you like your apps to look the part, you may want to give this one a little time to mature, as it’s currently in a very early stage of development.
Conclusion:
I installed this as a review article but, having used it for a couple of days, it’s staying. “Does what it says on the tin” Just goes to show what can be achieved with a little thought and effort. For mobile with limited RAM this is an ideal browser
