LG hopes to fight the Galaxy Note with its own “phablet” called the Optimus Vu which we reported on before (Verizons LG Optimus Vu Passes Through FCC). The Optimus Vu breaks the tradition of devices being curved or having rounded corners - it takes a different path with its hardware looking more rectangular than most phones. The Optimus Vu is set to be released on Verizon in the US and has, by today’s standards, some pretty dated specs. The ‘wow’ factor with this phone is its 4:3 aspect ratio on a 5 inch screen. It rocks a 2080 mAh battery with a 1.5ghz dual-core Qualcomm S3 processor. I’m not sure an S3 processor will help this device a whole lot considering the S4 is the most common in newer phones. The camera comes in at a good 8 megapixels in the back and 1.3mp in the front. If you haven’t seen the review for the Optimus Vu you can check it out below in Slash Gear’s video.
Do you want to get this phone or would you rather wait for a much more powerful “phablet” to come around?
