You know I like OPPO, I like the way they seem to just listen but sometimes I think they just get ahead of themselves by doing whatever people want:
Take this image posted on their Facebook page as an example. It leads to a discussion forum where fans of the device suggest to the company that they should do a Google Edition.
Now, a lot would need to happen for this to become real. You can’t just stick Android 4.2 on a device without customisation and suddenly start calling it a Google Edition, if that were the case then all of the no branded tablets and handsets would also be “Google Edition”.
There’s a reason HTC, Samsung and Sony (Motorola too perhaps) have created a device which can run a Google Edition, it’s because they’ve put in work to speak to Google and arrange for it all to happen as well as having their software and hardware teams work with Google to get the device talking to the right OTA servers etc…
OPPO, if you want to play with the big boys, start acting like a big boy and stop being bullied by your friends (consumers) into giving them everything they want, especially when it’s not something you can deliver “just like that”.
