When it comes to downloading apps, most if not all of us head straight for Google’s Play Store. We don’t think of heading for Samsung Apps, unless they are giving away free stuff. Samsung Apps has been in the background because of limited apps in their catalogue when compared to the Play Store.
Now comes good news that Samsung has teamed up with Chillingo – EA’s mobile games publishing division to launch ‘100% Indie’ developer program. Plus a bonus for the developers.
The program will start on March 4th and will allow developers to submit their games and apps on Samsung Apps where they’ll get to keep 100% of the revenue of the app sales.
Payment for the developers will be divided like so:For the first six months the developer will keep 100% of the revenue, after that will have to give 10%for the last 6 months, the following year it will raise to 20% and, the 3rd year raise to 30%. The current revenue sharing for most app stores is 70-30.
This will enable Samsung to boost their catalogue with hopefully decent quality apps and games and attract developers with a better revenue deal.
100% Indie website.
