Ever since OnePlus finally announced their much anticipated first smartphone, the One, there has been a sense of intrigue around the community. There’s no denying that the price point of the device is remarkable, and this has led to a lot of interest from potential customers. Many have questioned the invite system being used to sell the phone, with fears that trying to actually buy the device may end up being a somewhat stressful experience and that a second market for invites could form online if supply fails to meet demand.
OnePlus have moved to alleviate some of these concerns though, with a post on their forums on Tuesday regarding production and availability. The post says that the devices for the 100 winners of the controversial ‘Smash the Past’ campaign are ready now, to go out when the winners have been picked and have smashed their current phones. These will be followed in mid to late May by a batch of the £229 16GB Silk White models available to those with invites. Early June will see a larger batch of the £269 64GB Sandstone Black models, again available to those with invites. OnePlus claim that by late June, there should be plenty of stock of both models and anybody who wants an invite to purchase one should be able to get one with no issues.
So there you have it. By the end of June, anyone who wishes to buy a OnePlus One should be able to do so relatively easily. Are you going to buy one? Let us know what you think in the comments.
