As you should all now be aware, the G3 is the current flagship phone from LG.  It was released in June and includes a 5.5 inch screen with what can only be described as the thinnest bezel on any android phone to date. Most of the variants include Wireless charging as standard, the unlucky few that don’t have […]

Following the successful beta of the SWITCH project on the HTC One, Paul from MoDaCo has decided to open up an Indigogo project to fund development initially on the Samsung Galaxy S4 (partly due to his lack of a device to test on and partly as a social experiment) and to see where it goes […]
For those that have not been following the news Paul O’Brien over at MoDaCo has given us a whole new dual booting concept for the HTC One (initially) that allows us to boot into both Sense and Google Experience roms but here is the kicker - share data!  This means that you can switch rom […]
Many of you will have had this issue - you go to Google+ open the action bar and press Locations, then all you see are peoples faces on a grey background - no world map… The issue will soon become more apparent as people are forced to use Google+ locations as a replacement for Latitude […]
Mega, the cloud storage from former Megaupload Onwer Kim Dotcom launched some time ago but without an Android Client. However, we now have one! It appears to have all the features we have come to expect from such a cloud storage application, including auto-backup of images and videos. Let us know what you think! [pb-app-box […]
Earlier today Which? Magazine posted an info-graphic on their Google+ page which showed the results of their smartphone battery life tests. It should be noted that this does not take into account overall battery life (how the battery degrades over the handsets life span), which is why the HTC One is bottom of the charging […]
The Google+ Social Network turns 2 today…wow that has gone by quick! Mr Jingles, Google+’s new notification ‘protector’ is here to celebrate. Happy Birthday Google+ from the team at Land of Droid, we, of course, love you (which is why our comments system is now managed by Google+). You will see the new birthday ‘Mr. […]
Yesterday Google released the GE (Google Experience) versions of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One, these are meant to be near nexus devices but it seems Google have snuck in a new Camera App (which may be the version we will see in Android 4.3) This updated camera app includes some new features such […]
The HTC One one of the best phones out at the moment (well in many peoples eyes it is the best phone, but we won’t go into that argument) is now available in Red, this adds to the grey (clean metal) and black versions that are already available. There is no other differences with the […]
Unless you have been living under a rock you should have heard of Duolingo, the free language learning app. Â I have been using it since its release and I have been very very impressed with it. Anyway, onto business. Â The app has just received its first major update which gives us the Action bar, following […]
Lots of people have stated that they believe smart watches to be the key technology of 2013.  We are now half way through the year and there has not really been any new technological breakthroughs. But we do have some smart watches, each offering a different take on the idea of a ‘smart watch’.  I […]
Recently I have started to think today about Battery Life v Functionality. Â I have seen numerous cases of people who seem to be willing to completely cripple their smartphones (at least what I deem as crippled) in order to get what is likely to be just an extra few minutes life out of their phones. […]
For those that may have missed the news, Sky’s twitter and Android Developer accounts were compromised, and there is a suggestion that the apps themselves may have been hacked too - full information here: http://landoftechnology.com/2013/bskyb-android-apps-hacked-by-syrian-electronic-army/ Sky have been very quiet on the situation and indeed it does not seem that they have regained control of […]
Formula one is not everyone’s cup of tea, but those who like it tend to really like it!  Personally I love it.  I am always disappointed when companion apps for a sport like this are few in number and generally of a poor quality, that is until you look at the officially licensed F1 Timing […]
Keeping up to date with all the different announcements following I/O is not always easy, but thanks to Trendblog.net we now have it all in a ‘Google Now’ style graphic, easy to read and absorb.
Swype was one of the first stand out third party developed keyboards for android, but it was only shipped with certain devices.  Sure they had a limited access beta that you could sign up for and use on other devices but it wasn’t publicly accessible. Â
Mobile phones are moving forward in terms of technology used, however, until recently, Mobile Phone Chargers have not. Â You get your standard mains chargers, you can often use USB cables as chargers, you might be lucky enough to have a dock that charges, but why limit yourself to being plugged in? Â QI offers the ability […]
Accessories are an important part of any device, they help compliment its use, often in a subtle way, but certainly enhances the enjoyment value. Â I have been very pleased to see that when it comes to the Galaxy S4 Samsung have not been slow at sending out accessories, with most items fully stocked a while […]
The play store has been updated recently, this is no secret. But until today it was not working fully anywhere other than the USA. We can now access content on the home screen that was otherwise unavailable.
Cut the rope is by far my favorite mobile game, I have fully completed both the original Cut the Rope and the later released Cut the Rope Experiments, and now is an all new game - Â “Time Travel”.
Facebook and Facebook Messenger have just received an update on the Play Store (as in a few minutes before this was posted) - it may not have populated in all devices yet, but will in a few hours.
Many of you would have seen leaks of the new Play Store already, but a blog post on Android’s official blog just confirmed that it is now rolling out - it will take some time before it hits everyones phone, but I would expect an APK to be avaliable soon.
I have just noticed that many of Disney’s games are now free on the Play Store, this includes classics like Where is my Water (an excellent game) and newbies like Wreck-it Ralph.
