Round2 Beta Game Review!
Round2 is a fun endless play game recently released to the Play Store. This is the first offering brought to market from OneLastTry Studios. Although this project is currently in beta, I wouldn’t have known without being told.
The only real settings available are an audio toggle and control setting. The audio settings are self-explanatory. Changing the controls works as it says as well. Slide allows you to keep your finger in a blank space on the screen, then slide it left or right to move the triangle. Tap works like slide, but tapping instead of keeping your finger on the screen at all times. Tilt will use your device’s accelerometer, and as you tilt the device to one direction, the triangle will move. Now on to the game review!
The object of Round2 is to avoid the black boxes for as long as possible. The two rings both move at the same rate (for as far as I was able to get) and each generates black boxes. As far as I’m aware (again, I’m horrible at this game and couldn’t get very far) the boxes have three positions: left, right and center. In some cases the boxes will overlap when they get near the triangle. Sometimes they will not, and will block two-thirds of the space. As you progress during a session the game will speed up and become harder. Reaction time is king in Round2!
For such a simple premise, this game is a lot of fun with tons of replay-ability. The music is great with more on the way, and never gets dull for me. Every so often, the colors of the rings will change which is a really nice touch. High scores are kept for each control setting, so if you don’t like tap you can see your high scores for slide and tilt independently.
As mentioned earlier, this game is currently in beta. It is perfectly playable as is, but there are some cool things coming down the pipe from the developer! New music is planned for a future update (not like I had an issue with what is already in the game). The dev also will be including Google Play Services for leaderboards, which will only enhance the replay-ability of this title.
For now, this app is free in the Play Store. After beta, there will be a charge for it. If you’d like to pick it up and give the developer some awesome feedback, hit the link below!
